Yes this has been around for many years. There is no legal reason for it.
But my opinion is what harm can it do.
If you refuse it gives ammo to the detractors.
If you disclose, its an infringement of your liberty.
Maybe ask that everyone has to disclose all memberships ?? that way you find out all the married people that are on dating sites.
Which brings up the question of who sees this information and how do they use it.

Whilst I respect Bill’s viewpoint I cannot agree.
So would it be just Freemasons and Sex Offenders that the Council wants a list of?
Perhaps the next step is political or religious groups?
As far as I’m concerned we are entitled to protection from this kind of intrusion by the human rights act, I am proud of my freemasonry but we shouldn’t be compelled to disclose our membership of it so that others may treat us in a less favourable manner.

I dont see why all associations are not declared.
