The Grand Orient of France is not recognised by UGLE, GLoI or GLoS. The Vatican now has no problem with our 'home' GLs, See AQC Vol 104, pp.51 - 94, 'The Church of Rome and Freemasonry' by Bro Will Read.

I understand, however, that Roman Clerics are still proscribed from joining Freemasonry according to the Quator Coronati Papers.

Yes, I know - their rule, not ours. So how do they think they are able to comment on Freemasonry or to be judgmental about us?

Pope Benedict reaffirmed that Roman Catholicism and Freemasonry are incompatible and after that public statement many devout Brethren dropped off for fear of being outed in their parish, as Priests were tasked with ensuring there were no nasty Masons hiding in the midst of their flock.
