Dubai

Postby Caelum » Sun Feb 12, 2017 3:53 pm

Brethren,

I am aware that the practice of the craft is outlawed in Dubai and the U.A.E. but that's not to say that brethren can't meet in a social setting... As such I'm wondering if there are indeed any brethren who currently resides in Dubai?

Cheers,

C

A few years ago I advised a friend working in Dubai to go to the Raffles Bar in the airport where he successfully met a number of masons. There's a day and time for the best contacts but I cannot now remember that. Nor do I know whether this now works or not. So this might be quite useless information!

Just seen this. I am not away of anything at Raffles bar, but I do know of 3 brothers in Dubai (brothers in both sense of the word) they own a jewlers in the gold land (near the fish market) we discussed lodges in the Middle East but I think it's a no go. I can point you in their direction, they know more about Dubai than I do.

Cheers
Jim

Am I the only one who feels a little uneasy about this whole subject.

We have already heard in the first message how Freemason meetings are outlawed in Dubai and here we are discussing the locations of our brethren in that country.
Have we learned nothing from the past?

How would you feel if you were one of those brothers and the religious police kick down your door and haul you away because of a post made here.

check this site, lists areas of Middle east (U.A.E included)

http://www.rgle.org.uk/index.html

There is also District Grand Lodge of the Middle East under GLoS constitution, however, its more far east than middle.

You must also remember that drinking alcohol and prostitution is also outlawed in Dubai, but I can tell you that both are VERY prevalent in Dubai, and not subtly either!

Err yeah. I wouldn't believe a single thing it says on that website. the RGLE are well known to most of us.

PLEASE don't be promoting them! They are NOTHING to do with regular Freemasonry! (if they even exist)

I wasn't promoting them, I have no idea who or what they believe they are, it was just a quick google search brought that up.

Thank you for the link. In aware of them but as noted above they are not regular so a no-go...

Whether or not they have a practicing lodge in the U.A.E. I don't know but if they do then it will be on a military base. If it's not then they should not and would not promote the lodge on the internet as it would need to be clandestine.

The Base I was on in UAE didn't have a lodge of any description, but the one in Qatar did, although that was Prince Hall Affiliated. I know there is another base in UAE at Abu Dhabi, but I doubt there is anything there as there isn't that many personnel there

Well I was briefly in contact with the WM of the Prince Hall Affiliated lodge on a Dubai based American base. That said it was a few years ago so things may have changed... On that note thought it seems most lodges on bases in the Middle East are PHA. How come?

dah cos the Americans are like the engerlish
The "British" army relies on Scots to spearhead the actual fighting
( or flying drones)
while the US likewise relies on coloured men to fight their battles
hence proliferation of PH lodges in Aerican bases and Scots regimental lodges wherever the "British" army is nowadays as before.

X well done having KT on your list already now whats after Malta?
