Apologies, but a little far for my cabletow at this time. However, I do have a question....

You tyle at 7:30, then say 'visitors 7:50'. That's an unusual concept and not one I have come across previously. Is there a reason for tyling 20 minutes before visitors enter?

Bernie,
That happens quite often up here. Usually it's because the Lodge has a bit of private business to discuss open only for members. Lodge is opened, business discussed then visitors admitted.

Hi Bro Bernie,

We do have a little bit of business to do. Its not my usual way though. But we used to do all lodge business in the Irish Cons before visitors were admitted. Bob.

Peter/Bob, Thank you for the responses. I can certainly see the sense in it, but I had never come across it.

A few of the Lodges here do that as well, I remember the first time I visited United Services Lodge and we had to parade in after the Lodge had opened. I didn't have a clue what was going on - but it was fun! In my own Lodge all business is conducted with the visitors present.
Best wishes

Every UGLE lodge I've attended has always done business with the visitors present. However, having said that, much of the more routine stuff is done outside of lodge, and within the GP meetings.

(Sorry, Bob, we're in danger of hi-jacking your thread here)

A great night was had by all , I will not go into the workings of the degree as we are in an open forum except to say that, No 3 has its own ritual which was worked in a rather spendid way in a small Lodge. Our Lodge connections go back as far as 1790 and, even more so in the 1800s when Lord Rollo was Master of No3 as most of the land in Dunning belonged to him and our Lodges had invites to Garden tea parties and extra's at the Rollo Household.
