Master in Centenary year

I have a two part question, but I will ask the primary one first as that may deal with the secondary.

It is a few years away, but our Centenary is upcoming, and I wondered what the tradition is regarding who is Master that year.

Is it the person who is by happenstance on the right place on the ladder at that time or is it an honour that is bestowed on someone?

There's no reason to disturb your Lodge's normal succession. Apart from one or two commemorative meetings, perhaps with some top London brass, the year's meetings will be no different from any other.

Enjoy it and make the most of it.

There's no protocol; realistically it's down to the individual lodge. It could be they decide to continue the normal progression .. equally, for such an auspicious year they may decide to invite a senior PM who perhaps has given outstanding service to the lodge to take the chair.

It's really up to the lodge I suppose. I was fortunate to be next in line when we had our 225yh in 2007. Our current Master was recently installed once again, but he had requested many years ago that he be installed this year as master as it's both the 100th and 200th anniversary of his great, great (great?) grandfathers being installed as master of our lodge.

As far as I know given normal progression as the current Senior Deacon (as of March 14)....it looks as if I will be due to occupy the chair of KS for the first time in 2017...(if elected by the Brethren).......I'm beginning to get worried (24)
