Almoners visiting protocols

Postby Peter Dowling » Fri Feb 23, 2018 2:21 pm

We were informed at a Mark meeting last night that Almoners are now to take someone with them when visiting (male or female). The person you are visiting is also not to be alone but must be with someone. Will this now be a protocol across all Freemasonry orders soon.

No it will not.

That is an instruction from the GL of MMM to Almoners of Mark Lodges who may have to visit applicants to or beneficiaries of the Mark Benevolent Fund. Sadly it does not reflect current policies on either safeguarding or lone working.

By the end of this year applications made to the Masonic Charitable Foundation will only be able to be made either by the MCF's (trained and vetted) Visiting Volunteers or the MCF's own Advice and Support Team visitors. These people are all aware of the MCF's Lone Working and Safeguarding policies as it is part of their training.
