Secretaries and Treasurers - well anyone really

Postby admin » Sat Aug 29, 2015 10:05 am

Over the years I have found various documents to be very useful. i have done most jobs in Lodge and Chapter including Secretary and Treasurer.

I found both these jobs very confusing as no one really told me what I had to do. I learned, after many mistakes, how to complete the jobs to the satisfaction of my Province.

What I have done is to create for you all a bundle of files that I have used. A gift from me to you.

If you go to
http://sell-buy.net/download/

You will see a list of files which you can help yourself to.

Book_of_Constitutions_2014_Craft_plates.pdf
Book_of_Constitutions_2014_Grand_Charity.pdf
Book_of_Constitutions_2014_index.pdf
Book_of_Constitutions_Craft_rules(1).pdf
Dues UGLE 2015.pdf
Information_Booklet_2014.pdf

Sec.TreassBasics.zip
Secretary basics.xls
The Lodge Secretary (inc handbook).pdf
Treasurer-guide-Nov13.pdf
provincial_guidance_notes.pdf
sample_lodge_accounts.pdf
scribe_e_notes.pdf
secretarieshandbook.pdf
ugle_treasurer_duties.pdf

I have bundled the files together in a zip file

http://sell-buy.net/download/Sec.TreassBasics.zip it is just all the other files in one.

So if you are an officer who may wish to learn what the basics of the these jobs are this may help.

Use them or leave them as you wish. if you find them helpful please pass on to your friends and brothers that Lodgeroom does its best to provide a service not here just to sell you something. But we also need to pay the bills. You can all help by recomending Lodgeroom.

Thanks admin, as I am Treasurer elect from September I will download and read with interest. Anything to get me through the first 12 months would be a big help.

Thank you very much for that.

One of my insterests is collecting summonses from wherever I travel around the world (I find some of the designs interestings) and while I was looking through Porchway the other week and saw an advertisement for a position at FMH "Metropolitan Grand Lodge seeks volunteer Summons Scrutineers". Part of the job description is:
"The role is principally that of receiving, checking, auditing and filing lodge and chapter summonses to ensure compliance with:
1. The Book of Constitutions.
2. Directives and guidelines from the Board and Committee of General Purposes
3. The by-laws of the unit concerned.
4. MetGL protocols. ".

Points 1 & 3 I understand but can any of the secretaries out there tell me what the other guidelines are? Is there a Met/Prov/GL "Master Template" anywhere for a summons?

If there is one it would be available on porchway, which is a secure resource for Met GL members only
