"The Banner Rebellion"

Postby biglobbus » Mon Nov 28, 2016 4:41 pm

Brethren, I greet you well! I have reinvented myself in a slightly new persona as 'big lobbus' because of login problems in the past. I am sure that I shall have plenty to say, because those who know, admire, love and cherish me (a rather small number, I must admit!) are aware that I am not backward in coming forward if I am exercised by an issue.

For starters, the "real" Armirial Bearing of UGLE is available to purchase at Letchworths for a small price to be worn on the Lapel. Many Brethren who are unwilling to dump 600 years of history for something that looks like a duck trying to fight its way through a sheet of blotting paper (and is Masonically meaningless) are wearing them as a 'banner rebellion'!

Maybe Bill stocks 'em.

Perhaps if JSM Ward was alive, he would have recognised something else in this logo, it really is a kind of Roscharch Test, isn't it! In any event I would not wear one of them on my lapel!

With kind fraternal regards,

Lobbus.

The feelings at the quarry face are stonger than I thought they would be and I'm seeing fewer of this new 'brand' design actually being worn. One can only hope that thing is a passing phase.

Oh, and welcome back Big Lobbus!

The 'brand'. We don't need it, nor do we need to spend money on such things.

I understand there are some supply problems with the tercentenary Jewels ?

Gossip tells me although they are expensive they are taking some time to come through.

I have no idea how they are prioritising the orders either.
It is certainly not on a first in first out basis.
I ordered mine at the start of September - Silver Gilt & engraved.
I know of several who ordered the same in Oct and received them in October.
The last communication from TK says that mine will be in those sent out November.
Phoned them this week and after an age eventually got told that it SHOULD be sent out in the next week or two.

That would be for UGLE. The GL they are trying to commemorate next year won't be 300 years old until 2021. And, of course there's an older one than that from about 1705 but London wouldn't like it! Having said that, our Freemasonry is done in the private Lodges and who knows when they started - precisely? We cannot know now, because records were not kept; we can only surmise. Perhaps it doesn't matter.
