Loggia Italia 2687 or Red Apron.

Hi,

A little background about myself, I am 22 and have been thinking about getting into masonry for a few years now. Also just to let you know I am doing it for the right reasons and am not deluded with all the illuminati stuff.

I am thinking of joining a lodge, preferably in London. I am not Italian, but have a very keen interest in everything Italian and like the uniqueness of this lodge. If anyone has any information or joining requirements of this lodge it would be very much apriciated.

Second of all if you have to be fluent in Italian, which I am not, can anyone point me in the direction of a red apron lodge.

Thank you in advance for all your help.

I think you need to clarify what you mean by a 'red apron lodge'.

Lodges that nominate Grand Stewards, Globe No. 23 for example.

There are nineteen 'red apron' lodges, that is lodges which have the privilege of nominating each year one subscribing member for appointment by the Grand Master as a Grand Steward. One of these lodges is constituted as a 'Masters' lodge' and is therefore unable to initiate candidates for freemasonry. As far as I understand it the bar may be quite high for membership applications but I could be mistaken. Also, because of the potential liability for a shortfall in the costs of the annual festival of Grand Lodge, any active Grand Steward needs pretty deep pockets!

You can download the UGLE Book of Constitutions from the UGLE web site and look at rule 36 for some detail but not everything is in that rule!

Best of luck!

I'm genuinely concerned; what's your rational for wanting to join one of these lodges? Is it to become a Grand Officer or some other reason?

Another example perhaps of Google info taken out of context and give wrong impressions
Be careful sir and don't get misled
Just approach any relation or friend you have that's already a member ( although they might not disclose anything)
and be prepared to wait and enter without bias from anywhere else
meanwhile welcome and enjoy this site !

Hi there,
Reading the above, I get the feeling that you don't really know what you're asking and that it may be high time for you to take your research on prospective membership off of the "Interweb" and into the real world.

To join a London Lodge you must work or live in London so taking that as a given, I would be happy to meet up with you for lunch to have a chat and maybe give you some pointers. If you want to just drop me a line and we can make some plans :)
