Hello

I was watching the screen this morning when the tickets where sold.

The sale started at 8:57 and by 9:01 the sold out message was displayed! Crazy! 1500 tickets went in a few seconds. The event will take place in a year from today.

Indeed - that would be the one for UGLE and I think there's just about enough evidence for that. The trouble with making a fuss about the Union is that it would confuse people around the world into thinking that English speculative Masonry isn't as old as we'd like them to think. That's a reason why UGLE sidestepped its bicentenary and off-loaded it onto the Royal Arch. But as anyone who has done the least amount of reading would know, nothing happened in 1813 regarding the Royal Arch. Another four years (again!) would pass before the forerunner of our Supreme Grand Chapter was created. I doubt they will celebrate that in 2017, as they'll be busy with the false tercentenary. Now, if they'd done the research properly in the first place, there wouldn't be these clashes - 2017 for the bicentenary of the English Grand Chapter; 2021 for the tercentenary of the English (well, City of London and Westminster) Grand Lodge and all would be well. They could have had one around 2005 for the York Grand Lodge but I guess they wouldn't have wanted to stir that particular cauldron at that time! As it is, they are having several parties in the wrong years and a lot of explaining to do.

Of course, none of this affects Freemasonry itself, just the history books and the parties calendar.
